North State Conservative Leader, Dom Belza, Announces Campaign For State Assembly
Marysville, Calif. – Today, North State agricultural businessman and conservative leader Dom Belza announced his intention to run for the State Assembly in the 3rd Assembly District. Assemblyman James Gallagher is prohibited from seeking reelection due to term limits.
Belza is an agricultural business owner, from a legacy farming family, and, most recently, a Marysville City Councilman. For the past 19 years, he has worked as a local realtor and businessman, investing in and selling agricultural and commercial properties.
“I’m honored that Assemblyman James Gallagher has so strongly encouraged me to run for this Assembly seat. As someone who has prided myself on being a devoted public servant for my career, I know I can make a difference for the North State as its next Assemblyman,” said Dom Belza. “I will take on Sacramento politicians like Gavin Newsom and the one-party rule.”
Additionally, Belza founded the conservative grassroots political action committee “Free California” to address statewide issues negatively affecting the North State, such as illegal immigration, tax reform, public safety, parental rights, and other pressing challenges. Belza even served as a Co-Chair for the highly successful Prop 36 Campaign to reform public safety sentencing laws. “I know we can keep this momentum going into 2026 and beyond, that is why I want to keep fighting for the North State,” Belza said.
Belza added, “For far too long, ruling party leaders have dictated policy from the top down in a way that is completely out of step with our rural way of life—governing with a 'do as I say, not as I do' mentality. I’ve fought side by side with Assemblyman James Gallagher on a number of important issues. With the Assemblyman terming out, we are losing a strong conservative voice in the State Assembly. I’m uniquely prepared to step up and continue where Assemblyman Gallagher is leaving off. We need fighters who will get results as we tackle the issues our residents and voters care about.”
Dom Belza’s campaign team will be led by Gillard Blanning and Associates which has more than three decades of experience winning campaigns in the North State including former representatives, Congressman Wally Herger and Senator Jim Nielsen as well as current representatives Congressman Doug LaMalfa, Congressman Kevin Kiley and Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher. Additionally, Assemblyman James Gallagher’s Chief of Staff, Curtis Grima, will be advising Belza’s campaign.
The Belza family has been a part of the North State community since 1906, contributing to its legacy in business, farming, real estate, and public service. Dom, a fourth-generation North State resident, says he’s running to protect our way of life in the North State. Not only for the fifth generation of Belzas, but to preserve the North State’s values and traditions for all North State families that cherish our heritage.
The 3rd Assembly District encompasses all or portions of six counties: Butte, Sutter, Yuba, Tehama, Glenn, and Placer.
Dom has been married to his wife, Julia, for 11 years, and together they have four children: three daughters—Rylee (9), Raegan (7), and Ruby (5)—and one son, Johnny (2). Outside of his professional life, Dom is passionate about serving and giving back to his local community. This dedication inspired him to run for City Council and he continues to drive his volunteer work through his church and local service groups, including various service organizations and industry groups.
